    Internet Specialist (Web Developer/Communications Specialist)
    Location: Birmingham, Alabama

    JOB SUMMARY
    Primary responsibility includes the development, design and maintenance for Alabama Power's intranet and Internet sites, and consultation with other organizations within the company to plan and develop content for Web sites and pages to meet those organizations' business needs.
    This position creates and maintains content and strategic messages on the Web to ensure accuracy and consistency. This position will also be a catalyst for developing creative concepts in Web design and strategic communication initiatives for a variety of audiences.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

    Education Requirements
    -Requires a formal education or experience in communications or related field; bachelor’s degree is preferred.

    Experience Requirements
    -Specific knowledge and experience in Web page design and development in a Windows environment including but not limited to Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, FrontPage, Visual Studio etc.
    -Experience working in Teamsite or similar content management system preferred. Knowledge of CSS, RSS, HTML, XML and Web 2.0 technologies helpful.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    -The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills. The ability to effectively communicate difficult concepts to various audiences is desirable.
    -Must be able to learn quickly and have the ability to accomplish tacks under limited supervision and short deadlines.
    -Strong attention to detail and the willingness to work in an organization committed to a high quality of customer service.
    -Ability to work as a contributing member of a broader team as an individual contributor or team leader.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Major responsibilities of the job)
    -Coordinate the design, development and maintenance of Alabama Power's presence on the Internet and intranet. Revise and add content on a daily basis. Ensure sites are updated in a timely manner.
    -Work with other Public Relations employees to recommend and place content on the intranet and Internet and to ensure message accuracy and consistency.
    -Work in a team environment with other Internet specialists ensuring client satisfaction and communications goals are met.
    -Assists clients from other Alabama Power organizations to determine their needs for Internet/intranet sites. Design strategy, develop components and implement sites to meet those needs.
    -Contribute to discussion concerning the enhancement and update of communications delivery vehicles and the methods used for electronic communications. Actively monitor new or emerging technologies, determining possible applications for those technologies within the organization.
