Over the past year or so Adaptive Path’s Peter Merholz and Jesse James Garret have been leading a new discussion on experience as strategy. Other voices have addressed this idea as well including designers from IDEO and Cooper.
This talk highlights some of these new ideas and is largely based on a presentation given by Garret at MX West 2007.
Key ideas include:
* People anthropomorphize products.
* Developers are designing based on data (the inside out) rather than from the customer experience (outside in).
* Companies like Kodak have been founded on experiential products and services that redefined technology for the masses.
